Taipei 101- My first encounter with Taiwan by Razat Kharga
“Taipei 101”, the world tallest building. Back in year 2004-5, I was in my elementary school, I had been fascinated with watching a show on the TV about the world’s biggest, tallest, largest structures. It was at that time, I first heard about Taipei 101 and its location in Taiwan. Ever since the show aired on TV, I wanted to visit this country.
Fortunately, in 2019 Fall, I got a scholarship at Yuan Ze University to pursue my Ph.D. degree in Computer Science and Engineering. I was one step more in fulfilling my longing to visit this country and moreover be a part of the society. It is like a dream come true that I got this opportunity to experience and gain knowledge about the recent technological advancement that Taiwan has contributed.
Coming into the incident of Taipei 101, you guessed it right. The first thing that I did after I arrived in Taiwan, I visited Taipei 101. As I came out of the Xinyi Anhe MRT, there stood the magnificent tower. At that moment I felt like a kid, excited to visit an amusement park. The feeling of joy and contentment rushed through my body.
Finally, the ever longing desire had now come true. The closer I got to the tower, I was in a state of awe by its beauty and design. I spent the whole day visiting every level of the public area. Unfortunately, I couldn’t make it to the top of the observatory deck as the mist had covered the entire area and the visibility was poor, so I decided to visit sometime later.
By the end of my visit, I was thankful that I had the opportunity to be in Taiwan.
And so my journey in Taiwan here forth commences.
